Methods

A real shift is taking place in the dog training industry.  Traditional training methods
were adversar
ial.  Choke chains and punishment were used to control the dog at all cost.
In fact, the whole idea behind this method of training was waiting for mistakes and then punishing them.

Thankfully we are no longer seeing normal dog behavior as needing to be punished.
Today, positive reinforcement and behavior modification are used to teach the dog
to think for itself so that they can discover which behaviors get rewarded.  This mental
stimulation creates a dog of higher intelligence and training becomes a co-operative venture
of confidence, trust and respect.

Dogs and all species will repeat behaviors that work!

Clear communication is achieved through a sound or signal that the
animal learns to value.  A mechanical sound 'click' (clicker training) or
a verbal cue 'Yes' or 'X' tells the dog that what they are doing at the
moment of the sound is going to get them a reward.  This 'reward mark'
is a powerful tool in our training toolbox.

The most rapid learning period in a puppy's life is before 16 weeks old, therefore early positive
exposure and a well thought out training plan is crucial to your puppy's developing temperament
and
personality.

Adolescence (around 5 + months of age) is the most challenging period in your dog's life and it is
essential that positive training methods be taught before the onset of this period so that behaviors
don't become deep rooted.

Although, dogs of any age can learn new behaviors, it is the deep rooted habits that take time and
devotion to change.

Do you have a training plan to secure your puppy's future!
